Raksha Bandhan Essay for School
Students and Children
The festival of Rakshabandhan is celebrated every year on the day of Shravan Purnima. The first Purnima was Guru-Purnima, dedicated to the Guru and teachers. Before that there was Buddha Purnima and before that also Chaitra-Purnima. So this Poornima is called Shravan-Poornima, this festival of Raksha Bandhan is dedicated to the relationship of love and duty of brother and sister.
रक्षाबंधन का महत्व - Importance of Raksha Bandhan in India
On Rakshabandhan, sisters tie rakhi to their brother. The brother assures his sister to always accompany and protect him. This tradition is quite popular in our India, and it is a very big festival of Shravan Purnima. Yajnopaveet is changed on this day.
Rakshabandhan means a unique relationship of protection, in which sisters tie a thread of rakhi to their brothers, but this thread is also tied with the spirit of friendship, which we also call the thread of friendship. This name is still named in English, but Raksha Bandhan was already there, it is a relation of Raksha.
Therefore, Raksha Bandhan is such a festival, when all the sisters go to their brothers' house, and tie a rakhi to their brothers, and say "I will protect you and you protect me". And it is not necessary that they be their own real brothers, they tie a rakhi to anyone else and perform sister's relationship. So this practice is quite prevalent in this country, and it is a very big festival of Shravan Poornima. Yajnopaveet is changed on this day.
We have a centuries-old tradition of tying rakhi on Rakshabandhan. Each full moon is dedicated to a rough celebration. The most important thing is to celebrate life. All brothers and sisters should celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan with a lot of best wishes, taking responsibility for the love and duty of each other.
Yajnopaveet (Janeu) message and importance of
change - यज्ञोपवीत (जनेऊ) का संदेश और बदलने का महत्व
Remind you that you have three responsibilities or debts on your shoulders - responsibility towards parents, responsibility towards society and responsibility towards knowledge. These are our three responsibilities or debts. We are indebted to our parents, we are indebted to society, and we are indebted to the Guru; That is, towards knowledge.
So these are the three types of debt, and Yajnopaveet reminds us of these three responsibilities. When we say 'debt' - we think it is a loan that we have to return. But we should consider it as a responsibility. So what is the meaning of loan in this context ? Responsibility! It is to re-remember our responsibilities to the previous generation, to the next generation and to the present generation. And that's why, you wrap the thread three times.
That is its importance - I have to keep my body pure , my mind pure and my speech pure; Purity in body, mind and speech. And when a thread hangs around you, you remember it every day - "Oh, I have these three responsibilities". In the old days, women also had to wear this thread. It was not limited to just one caste or another caste. Everyone wore it - be it a Brahmin, a Vaishya, a Kshatriya or a Shudra; But later it was limited to just a few people.

So on this day, when this sacred thread (janeu) is changed, it is done with a resolve, "May I have the strength, that whatever actions I do they are efficient and reputable". One also needs aptitude for doing karma. And when the body is pure, speech is pure and consciousness is awakened, then the work is completed. It has been said that in order for someone to work, whether they are spiritual or worldly work, they need skill and competence and to get this skill and competence, you have to be responsible.
Only a responsible person is eligible to work. What a beautiful message has been given. And Yajnopaveet Sanskar - learn how to take responsibility. Janeu (sacred thread) should not be changed just like that. There are responsibilities in life. So it is replaced with alertness and determination that "whatever I do, I must do it responsibly"
